Surgeries on Exotic Pets
Whether it is a laceration on a bird, rabbit spay, guinea pig neuter, or a mass removal, we can do it for you. We are equipped with:
- Microsurgical instruments: We use the same instruments used by specialists in neurosurgery and ophthalmic surgery to perform surgeries on the smallest pets
- Bipolar cautery: When bleeding is a concern, we have a special instrument to safely stop bleeding in our birds and pocket pets
- Laser surgery: Lasers are very fine instruments that allow us to make an incision without worrying about bleeding. They seal the nerve ending and reduce the pain after surgery
- Endoscopy: These small scopes allow us to be able to do surgeries that otherwise would be impossible
Exotics Ward
Our exotics ward includes:
- Incubators designed for exotics. These incubators are individually heated and humidified allowing us to meet the unique environmental needs of sick birds and reptiles
- Oxygen that is supplied directly to the room and helps pets with respiratory disease
- An exhaust system that evacuates air to the outside so there is no transmission of disease to the rest of the hospital
- A quiet room minimizing stress to our most sensitive patients is a priority
- Easy monitoring: The exotics ward is located in our treatment area. Double glass doors allow constant visualization and a camera system allows the doctor to monitor sick patients from home
Boarding
Yes, we board exotics! Your cockatoo, ferret, or hamster will be safe with us. All pets must be up-to-date on a yearly health exam and have been checked to be free of parasites.
We strive to provide the best possible care for your exotic birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
