Compassionate Emergency Pet Care

The experienced veterinarians at Gambrills Veterinary Center are here to take care of your pet at all times. Our compassionate staff will take care of your pet throughout their stay and provide them with the love and care they need for their complete recovery. Call us for emergency services if your pet has been injured during a fight or is suffering from diarrhea.

What Is an Emergency?

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Excessive bleeding
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizures
  • Inability to urinate (urinary obstruction)
  • Exposure to toxins
  • Difficulty giving birth or more than two hours between delivering puppies
  • Open wounds
  • Burns
  • Bloated abdomen (GDV or Gastric Dilatation Volvulus)
  • Eye problems (red eyes or corneal trauma)
  • Inability to stand or paralysis

Examples of Emergencies

  • Pets that have been hit by a car
  • Heat stroke
  • Poisonings from rat poison, antifreeze ingestion, toxic plants, chocolate ingestion, ingestion of human drugs, and flea dips and sprays in small dogs and cats
  • Vaccine reactions causing vomiting or facial swelling
  • Male cats straining to urinate
  • Choking from ingestion of sticks or bones
  • Dogs with a distended abdomen
  • Pets with back problems, unable to stand, and appear in pain when picked up
